ReloadEvery is a popular add-on for Mozilla Firefox, with which you can have opened websites reload at a certain interval. The add-on is not directly available for Google Chrome, but you can use extensions specially developed for Chrome that offer you the same functions.

Use "Auto Refresh Plus" instead of ReloadEvery

The free extension "Auto Refresh Plus"has the advantage that, similar to ReloadEvery, you can reload a tab with just a few clicks of the mouse can and compared to other extensions also have significantly more setting options to have.

  1. To do this, first open the extension in the Chrome Web Store and click "Add" in the upper right corner to start downloading and installing.
  2. Confirm this again shortly after with the "Add" button.
  3. A few seconds later, the extension is installed, which you can see from a new tab and the new icon (a blue square with a rotating arrow) in the top right corner. Close the tab with Ctrl + W.
  4. Now call up the tab - i.e. the website - that you want to reload.
  5. Do not play videos on YouTube - this is how you deactivate the autoplay function

With the help of free extensions you can set your web browser so that ...

  6. Left-click the Auto Refresh Plus icon.
  7. Now select one of the six predefined interval times (between 5 seconds and 15 minutes) or create a time in seconds yourself.
  8. Then click on "Start" in the top left to begin the reload. The tab is then reloaded once and the countdown to the next reload begins. You can see this at the top right next to the corresponding symbol.
  9. At the bottom right you will also find a gear button that you can use to call up the settings of the extension. In these you can, for example, specify that Auto Refresh Plus should be activated immediately when Chrome is started ("Enable This Feature ") and a certain website opened (" Auto Start URL ") or a certain sound should be played after the reload (" Play Sound ").

To end the reload, either close the tab or select it, left-click the expand icon, and then click "Stop" at the top.

Install and use the "ChromeReload" extension

A good alternative to "Auto Refresh Plus" and thus also to ReloadEvery is the free extension "ChromeReload":

  1. To do this, install the extension as described in steps 1 and 2 above. So click twice on "Add". ChromeReload's icon is similar to that of Auto Fresh Plus. However, this is round and a little darker and the arrow rotates in the opposite direction.
  2. Select the tab you want to be reloaded regularly and then left-click on the ChromeReload extension icon.
  3. Eight different intervals are now available for the reload. Alternatively, you can set a random reload ("Random"), whereby the maximum interval would be 30 minutes, or use a self-defined time in seconds at the bottom.
  4. As soon as you have clicked on the desired time, the tab is reloaded and the countdown begins, which you can also see with the corresponding symbol. If you want to set a time yourself, you have to click on "Set" after entering it.
