  • Minecraft: Slimes don't spawn - what to do?

The opponent diversity in Minecraft is great and many opponents leave after a fight ...

  • There are small, normal and large slimes

Install the mod in Minecraft

  1. First you need the program Slimemod100. This mod allows you to easily find the zones in Minecraft where slimes can spawn.
  2. Once you have downloaded the file, you need to extract it with WinRAR or WinZip.
  3. To add the mod to your game, you now need to open your Minecraft folder. You can find this by going to Windows 7 in the search bar or under Windows Vista and XP enter the following text in the run bar:% appdata%. Confirm with the Enter key.
  4. Open the subfolder "Roaming" and then the folder ".minecraft".
  5. When you have arrived at your Minecraft folder, open the "bin" subfolder. Right-click here to select the "minecraft.jar" file and select "Open with ..". Choose to open the file with WinRAR or WinZip.
  6. Now drag the unzipped mod file into the "minecraft.jar" that has just been opened.
  7. Check that the "META-INF" folder is present in your "minecraft.jar". If so, you need to delete it.

Find the right zones for slimes

  1. Start Minecraft as usual and head into one of the worlds.
  2. You can now activate the mod during the game by pressing the F3 key. Some jumbled numbers and patterns appear at the edge of the screen. Your main focus should now be on the text "Slimes:... " lie.
  3. If there is a "Yes" after the colon, then slimes can spawn directly below you. If there is a "No" after the colon instead, you have to look for another place by walking around.

Allow slimes to spawn

  1. Once you have found a suitable spot, you now have to dig your way to level 40 or lower. If you want to be on the safe side, just dig until you come across Bedrock, the lowest limit in the world.
  2. Now excavate a large room here. We recommend the dimensions 16x16. The height can be freely selected. Please note, however, that large slimes need a higher room than small slimes.
  3. If you want to spawn small slimes, your room needs to be at least one block high. For normal slimes, a height of five blocks is necessary. If you are after big slimes, your room has to be ten blocks high.
  4. When your room is ready, all you have to do is walk at least 24 blocks from it and wait a while. After five minutes at the latest, the first slimes should be spawned.

It is advisable to have the entire room well lit as this will prevent further enemies from spawning there. The reason is the maximum number of enemies that can spawn per zone. After all, you're after slimes and can't do anything with pesky zombies or other creatures.
