Remove water in Minecraft with a bucket

With a bucket you can get in Minecraft only collect the standing water, flowing water cannot be collected with a bucket. It is the same with lava, only standing lava can be collected. A bucket filled with lava can also be used as a heat source in the furnace. A bucket is also the perfect transport container.

  1. To make a bucket, you need a workbench. You can also create a workbench in your inventory, for this you will need a total of four wooden boards.
  2. Open the workbench and drag irons into the empty blocks. You need three iron bars for one bucket.
  3. Now you can right-click the water (with the mouse) collect. You can reuse and also transport the water that is in the bucket after it has been collected.
  4. With a left click (with the mouse) you can deposit the water in another place and, for example, let it react with other materials.

Also, if you are underwater, you can use a bucket to remove the water and breathe through it.

A sponge could be used in the classic version

  • In the older Classic version of Minecraft, you could remove the water not only with a bucket, but also with a sponge.
  • A sponge was able to remove the water with a volume of 5x5x5 blocks around it. This was an ideal means of gradually drying a larger area.
  • Since beta version 1.8, the sponge has been in your inventory in creative mode, but only serves as a decoration and no longer has any special properties.

Remove the water with another block

  • If you don't have a bucket with you, you can use other blocks to remove the water in Minecraft. The best way to do this is to use blocks of earth or sand. All you have to do is put the block on top of the water source (the place of origin that triggered the flood).
  • If you can't find the place of origin, you'll have to put the blocks wherever the water flows. So that in the end all the water is covered with the other blocks. You can then dismantle the blocks again, as the water will then automatically disappear. Sand has a great advantage because it trickles all the way down and is suitable for quick filling.
