The new Facebook-timeline offers users the option to be in a cover photo profile to deliver. This cover photo spreads over your profile and can embellish it and show who you are. For example, you can upload a photo of yourself, pets, a hobby or a passion. This cover picture is always displayed publicly on Facebook, so that everyone knows a little earlier who they are dealing with before sending you a friend request.

If the upload doesn't work

  • If you want to upload a picture from your hard drive to Facebook and that doesn't work, it could be that Facebook is currently having server problems. If so, all you can do is wait and try again later.
  • It could also be your Web browser (Internet-Explorer etc.) causes problems and prevents an image from being uploaded without errors. Close your Facebook once and reopen it with another browser. Then try again to see if it still doesn't work.
  • Or, you might just have to update Facebook. Log out, close your browser to be on the safe side and then open it again to log into Facebook. Then try again to upload your cover photo.
  • If it still doesn't work, it could be due to your cover photo. See if the picture is the right size and not too small. If your picture is too small, enlarge it with an image editing program and upload it again to.

This is how it should work with the Facebook cover photo

  1. When you have made sure that Facebook runs flawlessly for you, create a cover picture that should have the optimal size of 729 pixels wide (according to Facebook). Smaller ones pictures cannot be used.
  2. Then call up your profile on Facebook by clicking on your name in the navigation above. Then move the mouse button over the field for the cover picture and click on the link "Change cover picture".
  3. You will then be shown several options for adjusting an image. For example, if you already have a suitable picture in one of your Facebook albums, you can select it or upload the cover picture you created from your hard drive.
  4. If it doesn't and you get an error message, you know the image is the wrong size and should revise it again. Otherwise you can drag the cover picture to the right place and then save it.
