There are places that need to be sealed, but are exposed to particularly strong heat. This mainly includes the kitchen area. If you need to seal here, the only way to do it is by using heat-resistant silicone.

What you need:

  • heat-resistant silicone

Heat-resistant silicone can withstand very high temperatures without losing its effectiveness. This is why you should by no means rely on being able to work with normal silicone out of economy, for example. This can also lead to problems with your insurance company in the event of later damage.

Heat-resistant silicone must be used in the kitchen

  • The greatest source of heat in one kitchen is and remains the stove. There are two parts to it that require special material if an exchange or repair takes place. These are the ceramic hob and the oven door.
  • With the ceramic hob, after you have cleaned the support surface and the ceramic hob, the support surface must be provided with heat-resistant silicone all around before the new ceramic hob is put on. You should then press it down well, for example pots filled with water, until the silicone has dried well. It is mostly heat-resistant silicone that is also able to bond at the same time. The ceramic hob is ready for use again after about half an hour. You can also attach some of this silicone around the ceramic hob to prevent moisture from getting underneath, for example.
  • Nowadays the viewing panes of the oven are mostly also glued in with silicone. Here it can also happen that the use of inferior silicone makes a new bond and seal necessary. To do this, the old silicone must be removed from both the oven and the pane. Heat-resistant silicone is then placed in the slot provided on the oven door and the cleaned pane is reinserted. You should then clamp them in place with wooden supports and screw clamps and let them dry for half an hour as well. Then the oven must be brought to a temperature of 250 degrees for another half an hour. The disc is then ready for use again.
