Active sessions at Facebook provide you with an overview of the last successful log-ins on your account. If you want to deactivate an active session, you can of course do that too. This only takes a few steps.

Active sessions - general information

  • Under "Active Sessions" in your Facebook security menu you can find the date, time and approximate location of your last logins.
  • The data for the location information is collected via your IP address. You can get more detailed information about this data when you move the mouse over the location data.
  • If you should ever see a location that you do not even know, then first check whether this session was a cell phone connection. In most cases this is the cause of the problem.

Deactivate this security setting on Facebook

  1. To deactivate such an active session, log into your Account on Facebook.
  2. Facebook is showing wrong place - this is how you should react

It can happen that your Facebook account is in the wrong place under your posts ...

  3. In the upper right corner click on the arrow and select "Account Settings".
  4. In the left menu field you have to click on "Security".
  5. The last item in the security settings is "Active Sessions". To the right of it, click on "Edit".
  6. You will now find the list of your last accesses as described. Each activity is followed by "End activity". Disable any sessions you want by clicking this link.
  7. The active session is deactivated and ended immediately. When you have finished all sessions, click the "Close" button below.

Basically, and always, you should end all active sessions immediately if they seem strange to you. There is a lot you can do yourself to ensure that your account and your personal data remain as well protected as possible.
