VIDEO: Open the CFG file

CFG files are generally normal text files that can be edited directly using Notepad or a similar text editor.

Edit a CFG file

1. Make a backup copy of the file. Changes made inadvertently or incorrectly can result in the program no longer working properly. The backup copy enables you to restore the original file if necessary.
2. Double click on the CFG file that you want to open. The program to be used to open it will be shown as unknown and you will be asked if you can Search the web for a suitable program or select a program from a list of installed programs want.
3. Click the option “Select a program from a list of installed programs” and select “Editor”. Uncheck "Always open file type with the selected program".
