With CRYPT you can encrypt individual files, but also hard drives and USB sticks. For this you can use the TrueCrypt program, for example, which can also be used to open the files.

Prepare the program to open the CRYPT file

  • Completely download the program for opening encrypted CRYPT files onto your PC and follow the instructions displayed after opening the installation file.

Open the file

  1. To open the encoded file, open TrueCrypt and then select one of the displayed drive letters. This is necessary to specify the file to be opened as a virtual drive on your PC. After selecting a drive that does not yet exist, click on "File".

  3. In the window that appears you should go to "Integrate" and enter the selected password there.
  4. Some CRYPT files are also encoded with the help of a key file, so that instead of entering a password, the "Manage key file" field must be used. Then confirm again with "ok".

TrueCrypt is a very extensive program that has numerous functions, but is also very complex. Before you get the software you should inform yourself about all the possibilities of the program. However, it is precisely because of this range of functions that it is sometimes easier to read files in, for example, AcrobatReader or in Office-Protect programs directly with a password, otherwise the recipient always needs TrueCrypt to be able to use the encoded files.
