VIDEO: How do I tie a tie?

instagram viewer

With the four classic tie knots, the wide end of the tie is around the narrow one looped so that a movable loop is created, with which the collar width of the tie changes can vary. As a starting position for all tie knots, place the tie around your neck with the wide end on the left and the narrow end on the right. The length ratio should be about ¼ for the narrow side and ¾ for the wide side. This starting position can of course be adjusted individually, depending on how long you want to wear your tie at the end.

  • Next, run the wide end of the tie up, behind the half-tied knot and pull the entire wide end forward.
  • Finally, pull the broad end down between the two layers of the knot. By holding on to the narrow end, you can pull the knot as tight as you are comfortable with wearing.
