Preserve plants in advance

  1. It is possible to make a Halloween pumpkin last for years. But you have to start preparing early for this: Buy a pumpkin for the following year in autumn and place it in a warm, but by no means damp, place to dry.
  2. So that the pumpkin does not get bruises, you have to turn and turn it more often. If you have the option to hang up the pumpkin to dry, this is the best method. It is advisable to dry two pumpkins, as some specimens rot or become too hard, despite the greatest care.
  3. Shortly before Halloween in the following year, you can then dare to carve the pumpkin into shape. Since it is now free of moisture and can no longer go moldy, it can last for years. To be on the safe side, you can also apply a protective layer of varnish here.
