Why living things sleep

Nowadays everything is researched and scientists have an answer to everything. At least that's what you think. Unfortunately, this is not the case, because science cannot exactly say why living things are asleep at all.

• For example, it has been found that hunters sleep much longer than, for example, prey. This may also be due to the fact that most predators have fewer enemies and can therefore indulge in sweet dreams with more confidence.
• Also note that the body relaxes while sleeping and is therefore fit again the next day. The mind can also rest if it does not have to deal with too many events of the day.

This is how monkeys behave

Man usually sleeps in bed and since the monkey is supposed to be man's closest relative, one might think that man sleeps in bed as well. Let's take a closer look to see if that is the case:

• Think back to your last visit to the zoo and think about how the monkeys slept there. You can see that there were differences here. You have certainly seen monkeys that slept in the tree while others used cardboard boxes as pillows and lay on the floor.

• Orangutans, for example, are able to build a nest on the trees that is very similar to a human bed. To do this, they connect branches with each other and cover the gaps with leaves.
• Note that there are many species of monkeys that generally sleep on the floor and even cuddle up in the process. Another place where monkeys like to sleep are, for example, large boulders that they cannot roll off even when they sleep.
• Baby monkeys, on the other hand, sleep - as human babies would actually like to do - on their mother's back or stomach. Logically, in this case, the mother is also lying down or she is holding her offspring in her arms to protect her.
