Setting the homepage in the Firefox browser is child's play. But shouldn't there also be a way to determine which page appears when you open a new tab? They actually do exist, but it's not that easy to get to the point where you can set Google as your default page, for example.

- Open your Firefox browser.
- Click on the small orange box in the top right corner of the browser window.

- In the window that now opens, click the "Behavior" icon. Under the "New Tabs" tab there is the option "Show when opening a new tab:". Set "New Tab Page" here.
- Last but not least, you have to enter "google.de" in the address field below, then you will come exactly to this page when you open a new tab. Of course, you can also enter another page such as wikipedia.org or helpster.de.
- Confirm your choice and exit the menu.

You can achieve your goal without an add-on, but this approach may be a bit strange for beginners.
- Open your browser.
- Enter the command "about: config" in the address line and confirm with Enter.
- A page will open asking if you really know what you are doing. Confirm this.
- On the page that opens, look for the entry "browser.newtab.url" under the settings name.
- Open it with a double click.
- Enter your desired tab homepage.
- Confirm your entry with Enter and exit the window.
- Test that everything works and be happy that you solved the problem.
