Sometimes it makes sense to block the internet on your cell phone. This measure can help you to extend the life of your battery. It also prevents applications from continuously accessing the Internet and unnecessarily increasing your data consumption.

How to block internet access on your mobile phone

  • Most AndroidSmartphones have a taskbar at the top of the start screen that can be pulled down with a swipe. There you will find the WLAN symbol. If you tap this, the WiFi connection is automatically switched off.
  • There are other options for blocking the Internet and turning off all wireless connections on your cell phone. Tap the Settings application, then tap the Wireless & Networks category. If you activate the offline mode there, your device can no longer access the Internet.
  • Newer Android phones usually have airplane mode. You can activate this by pressing and holding the button with which you switch your device on and off. Before that Smartphone turns off, you can select the "Airplane mode" function. However, you cannot receive or make calls in this mode. So if you want to continue making calls, you have to select the "offline mode".
