Connect your mobile phone to the PS3
You can connect your PS3 to many smartphone models and you have various options. Music and picture files can be easily transferred. If you have the Sony Aino mobile phone, you can even control the PlayStation 3 via Remote Play.
The PS3 cannot be connected via Bluetooth
The Sony PlayStation 3 game console has an integrated Bluetooth receiver and can be connected to various accessories. For example, while you can have a wireless headset communicate with the PS3, it unfortunately doesn't work with a cell phone. If you would like to copy data from your mobile phone to your game console and then view them on the large TV, this works via USB cable or WLAN connection. With all compatible cell phone models, data exchange is therefore possible without any problems. The Sony Aino is an exception and even offers you a remote play function with the appropriate software. With this you can turn on your PS3 from your mobile phone. Cell phones that have neither a USB port nor an integrated WLAN receiver can unfortunately not be connected to the PlayStation 3.
Connect the game console to the mobile phone
- Connect the data cable (USB cable) to your mobile phone and connect the other end to a free USB port on your PS3.
- Turn on the game console and wait for the system to get ready.
- Next, select the USB folder and press the triangle button. Your device will simply be recognized as a removable disk (like a USB stick). If you can only see the USB folder, but cannot see any content, the memory card may not be formatted as FAT32.
- Show everything and you will see the contents of your memory card. You can now simply copy pictures or music files to your PS3 hard drive via the menu.

Unfortunately, you cannot connect all mobile phone models to the PS3. In some exceptional cases, the game console does not recognize the mobile phone via USB. For example, if your model does not have a memory card and only has internal memory, there may be problems with recognition. Even memory cards that do not contain the FAT32 file system can usually not be read. Remote play is only possible with the Sony Aino or with other models that have special software. A connection via USB is otherwise with most Smartphone quickly and easily possible.
