Pimples - what you should (not) do

  • A bulging, purulent pimple in the face quickly leads to drastic measures. Many press around on the inflammation right away. However, this is not the recommended method, as it is rarely successful and can literally "backfire". If you press too long, too hard or not exactly in the right place, the pimple can burst inward, so that the purulent liquid is even more extensive under the skin and causes an even stronger inflammation, which you then have to struggle with for a long time and which on top of that increases the risk of scarring.
  • Regular, thorough skin cleansing - preferably in the morning and evening - is the top priority in order to generally clarify the complexion and reduce blemishes such as pimples. There is a wide range of products here: foam, washing gel, cleaning lotions, pads or wipes. Try out which product feels best for you and which is right for you personally for permanent and regular use.

Home remedies - help in an emergency

  • Orange peel: The peel of an orange (only unsprayed organic fruit!) Is rubbed off and mixed with a little water. Now it is applied to the affected areas (preferably with a cotton swab) and has to act for about an hour before it is washed off with lukewarm water. Warning: If you are generally allergic to citrus fruits, this is of course not the right home remedy for pimples for you!
  • Lemon juice: drizzle fresh lemon juice on a cotton ball and then moisten your pimples with this liquid. The pimple dries out overnight and by the next morning your pimples will have faded. If you are allergic to citrus fruits, this home remedy is also not suitable for you.
  • Strawberry leaves: Due to their high basicity (hydroxide ion concentration), strawberry leaves are said to be very effective as home remedies against pimples. Moisten a strawberry leaf with water, knead it lightly between your fingers and "stick" it to the pimple for five to ten minutes. This will reduce the swelling and help it heal more quickly. Note: You can also generally use a facial toner made from strawberry leaves to improve the complexion. Dabbing pimples with fresh strawberry juice should also produce very good results.
  • Blemishes - get rid of them quickly

Blemishes and pimples are just annoying. Reddened skin is also not nice ...

  • Garlic: Rub the pimple several times a day with a freshly cut, raw garlic clove - or eat three fresh, raw garlic cloves a day. Disadvantage: Although this method is said to be very effective, it is recommended because of the odor formation, but only if you live as a hermit in seclusion.
  • Tea tree oil: Tea tree oil - as a typical home remedy - also offers you a great way to fight your pimples. Apply this very intensely smelling oil undiluted, 2 to 3 times a day to the affected areas of the skin and let it take effect. Tea tree oil has an antiseptic effect. For best results, leave this pimple home remedy on overnight.
  • Healing earth: Mix the healing earth powder with some water and apply this mixture to your face. When the mask has dried after about 30 minutes, rinse it off with lukewarm water. Your pimples will dry out and the inflammation will quickly subside.
  • Toothpaste: Treatment with toothpaste, which can dry out the pimple, may also be worth a try. Before going to bed, dab a little toothpaste on the pimple and let it dry. The next morning you can carefully rinse off the remains with lukewarm water and in the ideal case the pimple has shrunk drastically. Make sure that the toothpaste contains only a few ingredients so that no further skin irritation can occur.
  • Honey: Honey has been used as a beauty product since ancient times. Honey has anti-inflammatory effects and makes the skin supple. Dab a drop of honey on the pimple as a home remedy and let the honey dry on. After an hour you can wash off the dried honey with lukewarm water. Repeat this several times a day or let the honey work overnight. Disadvantage: The honey is still sticky even after it has dried on, so that stains on the bed linen can hardly be avoided. If you have a good night's sleep, you can protect your pillowcase with a fresh guest towel or tea towel.
