Play .DVR files
Many SAT receivers and hard disk recorders use "* .dvr" files to save what has been recorded. Unfortunately, the manufacturers of these devices use different standards and only a few can simply be played on the PC.
This is how you can play “.dvr” files
The ending "* .dvr" (digitalVideo-Recording) refers to a container for media files. Which media types are put into this container for the picture and the sound differs slightly from manufacturer to manufacturer. Most of the time, however, it is MPEG2 streams.
- In order to be able to play and edit "* .dvr" files on the PC, the files in this container must first be converted into a compatible format.
- The “ProjectX” program is suitable for this. You can use the freeware program e.g. B. on the website "sourceforge.net“Download for free. the software is completely written in "Java" and requires the "JRE" (Java Runtime Environment) on your computer. If "Java" is not yet installed on your PC, you can download the current version on "Java.com" download.
- Start “ProjectX” by double-clicking the “ProjectX.jar” file.
- By the way, under “Language” you can also select German as the language. To change the language, the program then requests a restart.
- Now load your ".dvr" file into the software via "File -> Add".
- After that you should choose an output path for the new files to be created.
- In order to start the conversion, it is now sufficient to select “QuickStart” in the part of the program marked “Process”.
- "ProjectX" now converts your "* .dvr" file into a common "MPEG2" file. You can now also use it on the PC, e.g. B. with the well-known VLC player.
- In addition to this simple conversion, "ProjectX" offers you numerous other options. You can even trim your recordings before converting them. This makes removing annoying advertising blocks from your TV recordings child's play. The correct start and end time of the films can also be easily adjusted.
- If you would like to delve deeper into the subject, you can also select the “Customize” option instead of the “QuickStart” option.
