Teachers should know what to do. Unfortunately, there is no definitive catalog of rights that specifies this, so teachers have to make individual decisions in order to choose the right educational measure. This is the only way to meet every situation. However, this is not always easy to manage.
Learn what teachers are not allowed to do
- Teachers have certain limits that you need to be aware of when deciding what you can and cannot do. This results from the student's personal rights and the educational mandate that the school has.
- Teachers should never choose measures that are purely for punishment.
- Never violate physical integrity. Students have a right not to be hit, humiliated, or brought up. You are not allowed to hit the students with the flat of your hand, a pointing stick, or in any other way. Otherwise you would be liable to prosecution for coercion and bodily harm or even serious bodily harm.

Measures Teachers Should Use
- Every teacher should use measures that are educationally meaningful and that are proportionate. It is therefore imperative for teachers to decide which means of education is necessary, appropriate, and the mildest means to achieve a particular goal. In addition, you are not allowed to punish.
- Teachers must therefore not lose sight of the desired purpose and must choose from among several means available to achieve that which least affects the student. You can be creative in your choice of remedy.
- You can read in the school law of the respective federal state which influences you are allowed to use if there is a disruption in the classroom.
- Teachers may impose disciplinary measures if students are absent without excuse, refuse to perform or repeatedly classes disturb.
- These regulatory measures can be detention or the preparation of detention.
