The Big Rösti - a coveted "special edition"

  • The "Big Rösti" is a so-called "Action Burger" from McDonalds, which is offered once a year as part of the "Hütten Gaudi" for a short period of time, almost as a "special edition".
  • The composition makes the special taste of this burger. In addition to the minced pellet, the “Big Rösti” is topped with a potato rösti, fried bacon and cheese. The taste of this burger is rounded off with a cheese sauce.
  • Although the "Big Rösti" has already found a large fan base who would like to see the burger on offer all year round, the "Big Rösti" is only available as part of a special offer.
  • If you don't want to go without your favorite burger for the rest of the year, there is only one thing left to do - try it yourself at home. Even inexperienced people can do this with the right recipe.

The "Home Edition" of the popular burger - a recipe

With this simple recipe, you can easily make the burger at home. The choice of cheese can significantly affect the taste. If you love it hearty and spicy, you can also use Gorgonzola instead of the rather mild "Scheiblette" or use raclette cheese - it's even milder than the original with creamy, young camembert or Gouda cheese.

Burger meatball recipe - this is how the hamburger succeeds

If you don't feel like driving to well-known fast food chains for a hearty ...

  1. If you don't want to use ready-made minced pellets (fresh or frozen), you can also make the “burger” from fresh tartare, seasoned with a little salt and pepper, and use it to shape flat meat cookies. These taste best when they are cooked on the charcoal grill - alternatively, they can also be fried in the pan with a little oil.
  2. At the same time fry a small "Rösti" in another pan. To do this, you can either make a coarse potato puff pastry yourself from raw potatoes, Egg and a little salt and pepper (if necessary some nutmeg) or use a finished product. To make the hash browns nice and crispy and golden brown, you should add plenty of oil to the pan and bake the hash browns on both sides at a medium temperature.
  3. In the meantime, you can enjoy the burgerbun already cut in half and lightly roast the cut surfaces on the grill or in a coated pan.
  4. Then add the bacon (if necessary with a little oil) in the pan and fry it until crispy.
  5. Now put some processed cheese (cream or herbs, depending on your taste) on the lower part of the burger bun - as a substitute for the cheese sauce. Place your cooked minced pellet on top, season it with a little salt and pepper and cover it with a slice of cheese.
  6. Put the pan-hot, golden-brown fried rösti on top of the cheese and top it off with the crispy bacon.
  7. Now also coat the cut surface of the top part of the bun with some processed cheese and place it on top. Your homemade "Big Rösti" is ready.

Bon Appetit!
