What a TGA is

  • The abbreviation TGA stands for "text-bound Essay". This is a form of essay that must be based on a text and not in free form.
  • That means that you have a text template. In addition, this essay is like any other - that is, it is essentially divided into three parts: namely, the introduction, the main part and finally the conclusion or the summary.
  • It is important that you give the general data of the text in the introduction. This means, for example, that information on the author, title, source, an outline of the content and also the task or Objective of the work should be given.
  • In the main part, you first go into more detail about the content. Then you analyze the external form of the text and finally the linguistic and textual characteristics in order to assign the text to a text type and a possible target group and thus determine the intention of the author can.
  • In the final part, you summarize the information obtained again succinctly. In addition to this aspect of content, it is also important in a TGA to write in a balanced way - and this is exactly where transitions become relevant.
  • Introduction TGA - this is how you get started

How to get reconciliations

  • Transitions serve to lead from one section to the next. This is relevant in three places in a TGA: First at the beginning, then at the transition to the main part and finally at the transition to the end.
  • In essence, when making reconciliations, you should just write down what you will do in the following section. In other words, you can start the text with a line that sounds something like this: "According to the task I am dealing with a text-based essay ", where you go directly to the introduction and immediately provide information on the text and topic give.
  • You can do it similarly for the transition to the main part or the individual areas of the main part or handle with the trailer. Examples of this would be, for example, "For a better illustration of the structure, the content should first be summarized are "or" For this, the text is first described in more detail "and" Finally, it becomes clear that …".
  • The important thing is that you should definitely avoid repetitions. If you've already used a passage, be sure to come up with a new one - the same goes for words, by the way. Replace a second "and" better with a "as well" or a "as well".
