  • So-called extractor hoods direct cooking vapors into the interior of the hood via a ventilation system. The vapors are passed through filters and cleaned. The Honeywell NL 600 then blows the air back into the kitchen or outside, depending on how it has been installed.
  • Cooking vapors consist of various components, they contain fine fat droplets and various odorous substances. The fat is held mechanically in the filters, the odorous substances can only be neutralized by activated charcoal.
  • Please note that the activated carbon in the carbon filters is gradually applied because the substances that are filtered out are deposited. For this reason, the carbon filters always have to be replaced after a while.
  • You can wash out the fat that remains in the filter with conventional detergents. A filter treated in this way can then collect grease again, but you can no longer regenerate a carbon filter. That To wash usually ensures that the filtering through charcoal becomes ineffective.

The advice that is often given to simply wash out the filter should therefore be ignored.
