Build a fly screen yourself

Build wooden frames that will serve as supports for the fly gauze. So that you can attach the gauze well, the strips should be about 1 cm thick.

  1. Measure the clear width of the window and cut out pieces from the strips that end at a 45 ° angle on both sides. The short side of two strips must be as long as that window is wide. The long side must be as long on the short side as the window is high.
  2. Place the strips on the floor to form a frame and screw this together with the flat angles to form a frame. Paint the frame in a color that matches the window.
  3. Fasten the fly screen by stapling it to the frame of the fly screen. For these grilles that you build yourself, normal gauze, which is also attached to windows with Velcro, or those made of fiberglass are suitable. Metal grilles are less suitable because they are stiff and don't look good either.
  4. For assembly, screw four screw hooks to the outside of the window frame on wooden windows: one at the top, then one two right and left in the lower third on the sides and one below on the horizontal part of the Window frame. The hooks should be attached so that the window fits comfortably between the hooks, it is held on the hook by the brackets. The angles of the hooks should point towards the inside of the window.
  5. Make mosquito screens for balcony doors yourself

When summer starts, the insects come too. Who doesn't know that in the evening ...

  6. In the case of plastic windows, apply some adhesive points made of double-sided adhesive tape on the outside. Make sure you only use removable tape.
  7. Tack a tape to the four corners of the fly window. These tapes will help you hold it securely and prevent it from falling out the window.
  8. Lift the fly screen that you made yourself out of the window and slide it between the screw hooks. This can only be done with gentle force by slightly bending the mosquito net. In the gluing process, you align the fly screen and press it firmly onto the adhesive surfaces by pulling on the straps.
  9. The last step in building your own mosquito net is that you cut off the ribbons.
