In order to give fences, regardless of the type of fence, sufficient and, above all, permanent stability, the fence posts are poured into a foundation made of precast concrete. The size of the precast concrete foundations depends on the size and material of the posts.

Pour a foundation for fence posts from precast concrete

  1. For fence posts made of metal pipes, it is sufficient to install the fence posts in a point foundation of approx. 20cm x 20cm to be set and poured with precast concrete. In the case of larger posts or fence posts made of concrete, the point foundation should be selected correspondingly larger. In this case, in order to prevent the foundation from breaking apart when the fence posts are loaded from the side, you need to insert steel reinforcement into the precast concrete.

  2. First, the course is marked out with a string. Depending on the type of fence, the distances between the individual posts can vary. As a rule, the distance is usually two to three meters.

  3. After the course of the fence has been marked out, you need to dig the point foundations with the help of a spade. In order to set the foundations frost-proof, a depth of at least 80cm is recommended, but this depth is not always necessary. To be on the safe side, ask at the specialist store.

  4. If you have now carefully dug all the recesses for the point foundations at the desired height, they will be filled up to halfway with gravel or coarse gravel.

  5. If necessary, you can put reinforcement on top of the crushed stone / grit to prevent the foundation from breaking apart. To do this, cut a piece of welded wire mesh to size and bend it into a square tube.

  7. You will need a second person to help with the next step. The first post is now placed on the gravel / gravel bed. One person holds the post and thus prevents it from falling over and one person now fills the point foundation with precast concrete up to the surface of the earth. You now have to compact the precast concrete by ramming it. A bar that is placed on the post at an angle stabilizes the whole thing and prevents the post from tipping over.

  8. Now repeat this step for each individual fence post.

  9. The precast concrete can only be loaded after a week at the earliest. Before doing this, the fence posts or the foundation will not be loaded.

  10. When the precast concrete is really resilient, you can start stretching the fence between the posts.
