Planting strawberries in the balcony box - preparations

1. The first step is to prepare your balcony box if you want to plant the strawberries. To do this, you should create the right soil in the balcony box, which is loose in nature. Therefore, first work on humus, compost or manure in the bedding soil so that the strawberry-bearing plants are well supplied with nutrients and minerals as they grow. This should be done about two weeks before planting.
2. After the two weeks you can finally plant the strawberries, although the planting time depends on the variety. The strawberries should preferably be planted in July or August so that they can be harvested in the following year. If you have decided on frigo plants, however, these will be planted in the balcony box in April, at the latest in July. The harvest then takes place from November to February.

3. Dig a planting hole in the balcony box so that there is enough space for the root ball. Be careful not to press the roots too hard into the ground. When planting the strawberries, it is also important that the roots are completely covered with soil, but not the leaves. You should therefore adhere to the exact planting height accordingly. If the heart of the strawberry plant is level with the surface of the earth, you have done everything right.
4. Then fill the hole back in with bedding soil, humus, compost or manure.
5. Then water regularly. You should preferably water twice a day for the first two weeks so that the young plants do not dry out and later produce plenty of strawberries.
