How to seal a wooden rain barrel

- Now fill the cracked, leaking areas with hemp. You can purchase hemp at retail stores. Do this very carefully.
- Put newspapers under the rain barrel.
- Wear gloves when applying the isolating agent.
- You can paint the inside with a varnish. In this way, the wood is protected from moisture penetration and perfectly insulated.
- Now coat the inside of the rain barrel with synthetic resin. Make sure to spread the synthetic resin evenly.
- Instead of synthetic resin, you could also buy a pond liner at a hardware store.
- Glue the foil into the rain barrel with hot glue. Then let the glue dry.
- You could also insulate the wooden rain barrel with pitch. To do this, heat the pitch to a temperature of 180 degrees. After that, you can spread the pitch evenly.
- Let the isolating agent, whichever you have used, dry in the fresh air for at least 24 hours.
