What you need:

  • Material (fabric, leather, etc.) of your choice
  • sewing machine
  • Needles
  • Pins
  • Sewing thread
  • Scissors (possibly Pinking scissors)
  • Possibly. Fabric cord, ribbon or similar

In principle, of course, a single bag is more than enough for school. These models are so easy to manufacture that you might want to sew several models at the same time:

Bags are accessories too

  • Fashionable accents can also be set in school - so why not with a new bag? It is important that the function is not neglected.
  • Bags that are suitable for school must be practical, easy to carry, ideally washable and sufficiently robust. In addition, they should be dimensioned in such a way that the "content" provided for them fits in without any problems, creases or dog ears and can be packed and unpacked without any problems.
  • You can generate the “style factor” very easily by choosing the material: from synthetic and real leather to Plastics to velvet, brocade or cotton - the possibilities are almost unlimited.
  • You just have to make sure that you use the appropriate sewing needle and thread for your bag material. For leather there are z. B. special needles, also for the various textiles, from coarse to fine.
  • Cool bags for school - this is how to sew a leather bag

The processing of leather is not always easy. If you yourself have cool bags ...

This is how stylish “load carriers” for the school are created

  1. Measure the selected material to suit the intended use. Orientate yourself e.g. B. the size of your exercise book or your folder, i.e. the largest object that is to be transported with it.
  2. Calculate in the width approx. 3 cm on each side. The length is based on twice the height z. B. of the folder, plus approx. 15 cm. If you want to sew bags for the sports equipment, you can roughly estimate the space required by placing the folded items of clothing and shoes on the fabric.
  3. Now cut the bag material to size. If you use pinking scissors to do this (for fabric), it will not fray so easily and you will save yourself overcasting.
  4. Fold the fabric in the middle right sides together and secure it with pins to prevent it from slipping.
  5. Now first sew the sides with approx. 1 cm seam allowance together.
  6. Then sew the pocket opening approx. 1 cm around. If you (e.g. B. for bags for gym equipment) want to pull a cord into the "tunnel" as a closure, leave a correspondingly large opening free.
  7. Now either sew two handles of any length on the two sides or a shoulder tape on the "seam sides". The handles, resp. the shoulder tape, sew either from your bag material by sewing strips of fabric double right sides together and then turning them. Or you can use a matching scarf, leather in a contrasting color, woven, soft fabric cords or whatever else you can think of.
  8. Finally, all you have to do is pull the cord through the tunnel, if necessary, and you have a new bag for your school or sports equipment.

Of course, the use of these easy-to-sew bags doesn't have to be limited to school use!
