What you need:

  • Bulbs for headlight lighting
  • Bulbs for the taillight
  • screwdriver

It doesn't matter whether the front or rear lights on the car are broken. In both cases, this can usually be repaired quickly and easily by yourself.

First of all, determine which headlight bulb is actually broken. This can be easily determined with today's clear glass headlights.

  1. Open the hood of your car.
  2. Then remove the splash protection cap. In most cars, this is attached with two wire brackets that can be folded away to the left or right.
  3. The car bulb can now be seen from behind, where a power plug is also plugged in.

  5. The pears are pressed onto the headlight with wire clips. These can look different for each type of car, but the system remains the same.
  6. Press these wire clips together until the bulb and plug are loose.
  7. Now take out the pear.
  8. In order to insert the new bulb, you should avoid finger contact with the socket, as this can break the new bulb when the car lights are switched on.
  9. Before you reinstall everything properly, it makes sense to perform a function test with the new bulb. To do this, briefly switch on the light on the car.
  10. If everything is in order, the new lighting can be completely installed again in the same way as when it was removed.

Repair the rear light on the car

Repairing the rear light on the car is a little easier and not quite as laborious.

  1. In many cars, the taillight is in a complete bar. This is usually attached with two screws that you have to loosen to change.
  2. After loosening, pull out the complete strip and see which bulb is completely black.
  3. This is the no longer functional pear.
  4. To remove it from the bar, you have to press the bulb down and turn it to the left.
  5. Then you can insert the new bulb into the socket by pressing and turning to the right.
  6. Before installing the test, switch on the lights on the car.
  7. If it works, you can reattach the bar and screw it tight.
  8. If it is a question of changing the brake light, it is advisable for someone to stand behind the car to let them see whether the new bulb for the brakes is working.
