How to fix a broken mirror - here's how
There are people who cannot part with anything. Not even from a mirror that broke, for example, because it fell on the floor. However, there are of course differences that have to be considered when it comes to repairing a broken mirror.
What you need:
- Adhesive film
- Chipboard
- double-sided tape
- Jigsaw
- Trapezoidal knife
Especially when it comes to an expensive mirror, it is really difficult to part with it. However, you should also be realistic. If your mirror is broken into hundreds of small pieces, you should say goodbye to it. Because repairing a broken mirror is only worthwhile if there are a few fragments.
You may be able to repair a broken mirror
- A broken mirror can also represent something beautiful in a fashionable sense, provided it is repaired. However, there are a few things you will need to permanently repair your broken mirror.
- Before starting the actual work, assemble your mirror as you want it to look later.
- Now take a thin chipboard which of course should be a bit bigger than your mirror itself.
- Now place an adhesive film on this chipboard from which you have already removed the protective layer and attach it with a simple adhesive tape.
- Now you can carefully put the parts of your mirror together on the foil. Work very carefully and keep in mind that once you have glued on mirror parts you can no longer remove them due to the enormous adhesive force.
- When you have put your mirror back together like this, carefully cut off the excess foil with a trapezoidal knife.
- Now draw the outline of your mirror on the chipboard. You should bring in another person for the following work.
- Now carefully pull the foil off the chipboard with your mirror. Now saw out the marked outline using a jigsaw.
- Now put some strips of double-sided tape on this part and remove the protective layer.
- Now you should place your foil with the mirror carefully and exactly fitting on this chipboard and immediately press it on firmly.
- You can now either simply attach hangers, but it would also be more stable for the mirror itself if you provided it with a nice frame.
- It does take some work to repair your broken mirror, but the result is quite impressive.
