As a rule, clear, clean water always comes out of the water pipe. But what if it's brown that comes out of there?

The water that comes out of the tap is our drinking water. According to DIN 2000, this means that it is the most important food and cannot be replaced. The drinking water is obtained from wells, springs and surface water. It is subject to a drinking water ordinance and the water suppliers must ensure that the Regulations are observed and you have clean and non-polluted water available stands.

  • It would, of course, be terrible if it got off its way so dirty that brown water flows out of your tap. That's not the case. The causes are different.
  • Sometimes construction work is necessary that requires the water to be turned off. Then repairs are made to the pipeline network, and when the water is turned on again, it initially flows brown.
  • You will usually be informed of this beforehand, but it is also possible that while you are not at home all day, sudden damage occurs somewhere and is repaired immediately. If you then turn on your tap, brown water may come up for now.
  • You live in an apartment building and repair work was necessary in another apartment. Then it may also be possible that your water is briefly brown as a result.

  • Of course, pipe damage can also occur between your water supplier and you or in your area directly, which has not yet been discovered externally. You may also be able to see this in your water.

When it comes out of the line brown

  1. If brown water comes out of the tap, it is best to open all the taps first and let the water run until it is clear again. Any remnants of dirt or rust from repair work should then be gone.
  2. After about 30 minutes, check all taps again to see whether the water now remains clear.
  3. In the meantime, please check your house connection for the input filter there. With a lamp, you can be sure that it is clean.
  4. If your water does not clear or if it keeps getting brown after a while, you must inform your water supplier immediately. He will give you a reason for this in a moment or immediately initiate an investigation to find the cause as quickly as possible.
  5. If the damage is discovered, it will be quickly repaired and your water will soon flow as usual again from the tap.

By the way, so that you always have completely pure drinking water, you should do this in the morning or when you have not been there for a long time Let the water run for a few moments so that any particles that may have settled out of the pipes are. You can of course support the whole thing with an additional drinking water filter.
