Create a shelf for boats

So that your boats have a storage location where they do not take up too much space, you will build a metal shelf. The same is equipped with hooks on which you can then hang up the canoes. So you should be knowledgeable about metal construction to be able to successfully carry out this project.

  1. For your shelf, on which you can then hang boats, first cut two large base plates from 60 cm x 60 cm x 1 cm steel plate. Drill 10 mm holes in each corner of these two panels.
  2. In the next step, cut two square tubes with a wall thickness of 3 mm to the respective dimension of 200 cm. These 10 cm x 10 cm square tubes are then placed vertically on the base plates and attached with small tack welds.
  3. After you have aligned both square tubes and the base plate, weld the tubes together completely. Next, cut 20 cm x 20 cm x 0.5 cm angle irons to a width of 5 cm each. In total, you should cut 12 hooks.
  4. Then weld 3 angle irons on two opposite sides of the square tubes, which are then used as hangers for your boats. You should set the spacing of the hooks so that you can comfortably accommodate three boats on each side on your shelf.
  5. Build a hammock stand yourself - this is how it works

Now that your hammock has slipped for the tenth time, it's about time ...

Anchor the canoe holder in the ground

  1. Now place the two shelf stands so that you can hang the boats on both sides. After aligning the two uprights, drill the holes in the baseplate into your garage floor. Then dowel and screw the same.
  2. Now you are finished with the assembly and you can still paint your frame nicely. ribbons So lightly paint the entire boat shelf and paint it with anti-rust paint. After drying, you can apply a layer of clear lacquer and you're done.

When welding, it would make sense if you put on protective clothing.
