Make cheese platters yourself - choose the cheese
- First of all, of course, you need cheese. Buy different types of cheese at the cheese counter. Always take a whole piece and not slices.
- Try to vary your choices. Take mild cheese and strong. Cream cheese and camembert are also wonderfully suited for cheese platters. A nice selection of five to six different types should be enough for a small buffet - there is something for everyone.
- Do not buy packaged cheese for the home-made cheese platter, because its taste usually does not last long.
Decoration and side dishes
- Arrange the cheese. For this you need a large wooden plate or a nice glass plate. Drape the different types of cheese uncut on the plate. Make sure, however, that you can cut off a piece of each cheese without another being in the way.
- Now decorate your cheese platters. Grapes are compulsory. With light and dark grapes, you will have a beautiful decoration in no time at all. Simply place small bunches of grapes between your cheeses. Pay attention to a harmonious interplay of colors.
- As an alternative to grapes, you can use almost any one vegetables use. Small cherry tomatoes or radishes are very popular. Figs are also great on a cheese platter.
- If you are looking for a special eye-catcher, you can make small flowers yourself from carrots. To do this, cut a thin strip from your cleaned carrot with the vegetable peeler. Now roll up the strip and drape it between the cheese. Now if you pull the rolls apart a bit, you have a little rose.
- A cold beer goes well with some types of cheese, especially the hearty ones. Otherwise, we recommend a fruity one with a cheese platter red wine or a young white wine.
