Rent snow chains from ADAC
If you go to snowy areas on your winter holiday, it is better to have snow chains with you. In order to avoid that these are bought unnecessarily and not needed, the ADAC offers a practical system: You can borrow snow chains from many ADAC branches. If you didn't have to use them, you can return the snow chains and only pay a rental fee.
What you need:
- ADAC branch that rents snow chains
- Vehicle registration

Buy chains from ADAC
- In the ADAC snow chain station, you can then select the appropriate snow chains that you want to rent. You should have your vehicle registration with you so that the snow chains also fit your car.
- You first have to buy the snow chains from ADAC.
- You will also receive a return guarantee here. You need this in the event that you do not need the snow chains while on vacation and therefore just want to rent them.
- If you've used the snow chains on your winter vacation, just keep them. A return is then no longer possible.

Renting snow chains - the second option
- If you do not need the snow chains, you can bring them back to the ADAC branch where you picked them up and you will be reimbursed the purchase price there.
- You must bring the proof of purchase and the return guarantee with you.
- For renting the snow chains, you then only pay a rental fee of 3 euros for ADAC members or 5 euros for non-members per calendar day (as of 2010). The snow chains must be unused and in the undamaged original packaging to be borrowed at a later date.
