Variations for the simple cake recipe

  • Of course, you can have others too Baking molds or fill the batter of the cake with a few ingredients into muffin tins.
  • In almost every household there are always small residues of baking ingredients left over that can be wonderfully used for the box cake: Refine the basic dough (after stirring in the flour) with a handful of chocolate flakes, grated chocolate, chopped almonds, and raisins Etc. Or stir - together with 1-2 tbsp milk - a small portion of coconut flakes or ground almonds under (approx. 30-40g).
  • If the cake is only intended for adults, it will get a particularly fine aroma if you add 1 teaspoon rum or stir in amaretto.
  • A leftover, already slightly “wrinkled” apple can also be used for the cake: Peel and quarter the apple and grate it. Fold the wafer-thin slices into the dough.
  • For a particularly fluffy (and more “figure-conscious”) dough: replace part of the butter with quark.
  • Alternatively, cover the box cake with a delicious, homemade chocolate icing: Melt 200g of dark chocolate pieces, then add 130g of butter by tablespoon and also melt. Remove from the hot plate and let cool while stirring. Put the icing in the refrigerator to get a firmer consistency. Finally, glaze the box cake with it. If you don't chocolate in the house, you can also make a couverture from 250g powdered sugar, 50g butter, 25g cocoa powder and 1-2 tablespoons milk: the butter in one Melt the small saucepan, stir in the cocoa powder, let stand on the stove for 1 minute, then set aside and add the powdered sugar stir in. Heat the mass again while stirring until it is smooth. Finally add the me to get a spreadable glaze.
  • In case you prefer a simple one sheet cake If you want to prepare with just a few ingredients, you can stir 200g butter or margarine with 190g sugar and 2 packets of vanilla sugar (if available) and 4 eggs until creamy.
