Use insulation wedges for interior insulation

Insulation wedges for interior insulation are often made of mineral wool and they are particularly easy to process. Do-it-yourselfers can also use it to insulate their attic in a short time.

Thanks to their stability, you can use and adapt the insulation wedges very well for interior insulation. They can be pushed into the beam cavities, the material is easy to cut and if electrical cables appear, then simply clamp them between the wedge and the beam.

Adjust and cut insulation wedges

Here is the easy one insulation of an attic briefly described using the wedges:

  1. Before buying the insulation material for the interior insulation, you must first precisely measure the depth of the rafter. The insulation wedges are available in different thicknesses, while they are almost always offered in the same size in length and width, namely 100 x 62.5 cm.
  2. Sometimes a ventilation gap of 2 cm is necessary if no roof membrane has been installed. You must then take this distance into account when purchasing the wedges so that they are flush with the rafters.
  3. Now it's time to adjust the width of the wedges. Assuming you only have 80 cm of space between the insides of the rafters, you have to cut the wedges a little. This is very easy by putting them together (so that they together form a rectangle) and moving them against each other on the slopes and cutting off the protruding corners with a knife.
  4. Interior insulation with Multipor - this is how ceiling insulation works

Almost everywhere in the streets you can see how houses are retrospectively ...

  5. However, you still have to approx. Add 2 centimeters so that the material sits firmly and does not slip or fall out. In the above example it would be 82 cm.

Correctly attach the wedges for the interior insulation

  1. Now you can insert the first wedge. Always start at the bottom of the floor, in the right or left corner and then slide the counterpart onto it. To make it wedge better, you can put a small wooden board on top and tap it down with a hammer.
  2. Work your way across the entire roof surface in this way, it is usually quite quick.
  3. If the areas between the rafters are wider than 100 centimeters, you have to "piece" and use two wedges next to each other. The best way to do this is to ask someone to help you fit the wedges that are next to each other at the same time.
  4. If you want the insulation to be airtight, you can attach PE film to it. Make sure that these overlap a little at the seams and then cover them with the appropriate special adhesive tape.

Of course, this is only a brief overview of interior insulation. Before you start, you should first have the room to be insulated by a specialist.
