An acrylic bathtub is easy to keep clean and maintain. You can do this with the simplest home remedies that make expensive special cleaners superfluous.
Clean and maintain acrylic bathtubs gently and inexpensively
As everywhere else, with an acrylic bathtub, the best types of dirt are those that do not arise in the first place. When you have finished bathing, it makes sense to rinse the bathtub with hot water and dry it with a dry, soft cotton cloth. Cloths made from old terry towels are suitable for this because they have a high absorbency.
- The best way to remove any dirt marks left in the bathtub is with a soft sponge and a little washing-up liquid or soft soap. Please never use the abrasive side of a sponge or abrasive cleanser. Both will scratch the surface and the bathtub will become dull.
- You can remove limescale stains with a vinegar cleaner and a sponge. It is better to let the cleaner work for a long time or to repeat the application than to scrub "wildly".
- If you fill the vinegar cleaner into a flower syringe and spray the dirt on the tub with it, more cleaner will stick to the surface than if you spread it with a rag.
- When the bathtub is clean and dry, you can achieve a nice shine if you rub the surface with buttermilk twice a month.
- You can achieve the same result if you use car polish instead of buttermilk. Again, you should only use soft cloths to rub in scratch to avoid.
- Just like when used with car polish, dishwasher rinse aid prevents water droplets from sticking to the surface of the acrylic bathtub. With both products, there is no need for the tub to dry out for a while. You should always "treat" your acrylic bathtub again when you notice that the beading effect is wearing off.
