Correctly restore the window

  • Paint that is already loose and chipping can be removed just like that. The remaining paint can now be removed with an electric grinder or you can use conventional sandpaper.
  • Then the old putty is completely removed from the joints. Be very careful not to damage the wood any further.

  • Before you continue with the renovation of the old building, sand the entire frame again. Fill the joints with new window putty and let it dry well.
  • Now you can paint the frames again. To do this, you can use a colored lacquer that is made for wood or you can use a clear lacquer. The wood look is retained and the frame only gets a protective layer through the transparent varnish.
  • Apply the varnish thinly with a paint roller and let it dry well. Then repeat this step and you can hang the window again as soon as the paint is completely dry.
