If you have your own website, you can integrate the various functions of Facebook on your website in just a few steps. Facebook helps you to create the necessary code for the social plugins, which you then only have to insert into your web files. You can find out how to do this here.

Use functions of Facebook

First you have to select the social plugin that you want to integrate and then have the code created according to your wishes.

  1. To do this, start your web browser and open the Facebook-Developer website for "Social plugins".
  2. Select the social plugin that you want to include on your website. For example, you can choose between different buttons (Like, Share, Subscribe) or boxes such as Comments, Live Stream or Activity Feed.
  3. This will open a new page on which you can define the individual settings for the social plugin. In any case, you should enter the URL (link address) to which the social plugin should refer. For example, enter the address of your website.
  4. Below you can specify how the social plugin should look. For example, you can specify the width, layout or color. To the right of it you can observe the respective changes.

  5. Once you have made all the settings, click on "Get Code" at the bottom.
  6. A small pop-up window will then open that provides you with the code for the social plugin. Leave this window open so that you can apply the code from the two text fields to your website.

Embed the generated code on the website

Once you have the code, you can embed it on your website.

  1. Start your editor program that you use to design or create your website. Edit your web files.
  2. Open the web file on which you want to insert the Facebook social plugin.
  3. Go to your web browser and copy the code from the first text area.
  4. The best thing to do is to insert this code directly under the BODY tag in your editor.
  5. Then go to the place in your web file where you want to integrate the Facebook plug-in, i.e. where it should appear on your website at the end.
  6. Copy and paste the code from the second text area.
  7. Save the changes and upload the web file to your web server so that the changes will also take effect on your website.
