VIDEO: No sound through HDMI
With an HDMIcable and of course you can connect them to the corresponding plug-in options on your multimedia devices. For example, you can watch films that you play on your PC or laptop directly on your television. Sometimes it happens that no sound is transmitted.
What you need to know about HDMI
- The devices to be connected must have an HDMI socket. You can recognize them by their shape and it is often written on them. It can also be found in the operating instructions.
- You also need an HDMI cable. You should plan this as briefly as possible, because the longer it is, the greater the likelihood of transmission errors. 15 meters is currently the maximum limit and there should be no twists or turns.
- Adapters are also possible, for example from DVI to HDMI. Obtain these from specialist retailers after detailed advice.
No sound - this is how you solve the problem
- For example, you have connected your laptop to your TV with an HDMI cable and want to watch a movie. The picture is there, but no sound. First check the settings on both devices.
- If you do not see a picture either, first set "HDMI" on the receiving device via the inputs and outputs menu item. If you work with an adapter, then it will be different, for example "DVI".
- Now check the audio settings of the output device. To do this, go to the control panel of your PC and click on "Sound"or" Audio Settings ".
- These are listed under the "Playback" or "Output Devices" tab. There are at least two, usually three devices. First the speakers of the computer, then an interface and then "digital output device HDMI."
- Select the HDMI output by clicking on it and right-click to open the context menu. Click "Enable" and this will make HDMI the main audio output device.
