Connection and initial start-up

1. Unpack the Orion VDR-4003 XSI and inspect the outside of the device for damage. Instructions in foil and the remote control are included in the scope of delivery.
2. Take the batteries supplied (usually with the instructions) and insert them into the remote control.
3. Connect the device to the power. The power plug is attached to the rear.
4. Take a SCARTcable (not included) and connect it to one of the sockets on the back of the device.
5. Connect the device to a SCART socket on the television.

The connections of the Orion VDR-4003 XSI

• The Orion VDR-4003 XSI can record and play back on VHS as well as play and burn DVDs. Only copying within the device (from VHS to DVD or vice versa) is not possible.

• At the front left there are connections for a video camera, for example, which can be connected directly using a cinch cable. This is particularly practical as there is no need to connect the devices on the back.

• Furthermore, you will find various buttons on the front of the device, which can be used to control the recorder without a remote control. An important button is the selection button between DVD or VHS mode. This allows you to select the drive that is to be played back.

• The rear part of the device has two SCART inputs as well as other connections such as an antenna connection and cinch inputs. HDMI is not on board with this device.

Instructions for recording and playback

• The easiest way to control recordings is to use the remote control. If the device is set up correctly, you can record TV shows with it. DVD and VHS recordings can be started immediately with the record button (red dot). Do not forget to finalize the DVD so that the DVD can also be played on other devices (PC, laptop, etc.).

• Playing media is also very simple. Insert the DVD or VHS into the respective optical drive, select the source and press "Play" on the device or on the remote control. Buttons for fast forward and rewind, stop and pause can also be found there.
