Anyone who has carpeted floors in their apartment or house can tell a song about how quickly it can happen that a stain or damage appears on it. It gets particularly bad when a cigarette falls on the carpet and it has a burn hole.

Of course, you don't have to change all of your carpeting because of a burn hole. With a few simple means it is also possible for you to repair this burn hole in such a way that you will not see any more of it afterwards. The prerequisite for this, however, is that you still have some of the affected carpet in storage.

A burn hole in the carpet is easy to remove

Anyone laying carpeting should always be careful to keep some leftover pieces in order to be able to repair any damage, such as a burn hole.

  1. Take a piece of your carpet and use a cutter knife to cut out a piece that is slightly larger than the burn hole. Before doing this, pay attention to the direction in which the carpet was laid.
  2. Now place this piece exactly over the burn hole and now make a square double cut. So you have cut out both the piece to be inserted and the damaged piece of carpet.
  3. Now you have to carefully remove the damaged piece of carpet from the carpet using a small spatula.

  5. Depending on how your carpet was laid, be it with carpet glue or tape, you will need to proceed with the repair now. Let's say it's carpet glue, then apply some glue to the cut-out area of ​​the carpet and carefully insert the new piece. Tap the interfaces a little with a hammer.
  6. When the glue has dried a bit, take your spatula and run again as if you were doing it carpet want to comb over the interfaces. Now the place with the former burn hole should no longer be visible.
