This will prevent potentially dangerous heat build-up. As a rule, this is guaranteed by the fact that the exhaust air is diverted through windows that are higher than the air conditioning units.
• Decide on a window that you want the air conditioner to be near. Now measure the width of the window frame from one inside edge to the other. Also measure the diameter of the exhaust air hose. Now you can saw to size a wooden board (or have it cut to size at the hardware store), with which you can ensure sufficient insulation and support. It should be exactly the width of the inner area of ​​the window frame and a height about four centimeters above the diameter of the hose. Use a fretsaw to saw a circular opening that corresponds to the hose diameter plus five to ten millimeters. This board is clamped at the bottom of the window frame of the open window, the hose is passed through. The roller shutter is lowered so far that it sits on the board and the slats close. This means that warm exhaust air no longer gets back into the room.
• If the window you choose is quite small, you can remove the pane and replace it with a wooden panel. In this case, too, a circular opening is sawn through which the exhaust air can escape by means of the hose. If the apartment is to be rented, you need the landlord's approval.
