How to erect a lamella fence

Before installing a lamellar fence in your garden, you should first find out about the local regulations. In some municipalities and cities there is a regulation regarding the permissible construction height.

  1. First, mark the positions of the posts. Since the individual slat elements are usually 1.80 m wide, you have to set the posts accordingly. Of course, you have to add the width of the posts and about 1 to 2 cm of clearance to the 1.80 m.
  2. To ensure that the lamellar fence is precisely aligned later on, you should use a straight line when marking the post positions.
  3. The easiest way to attach the posts is to use ground impact sleeves. These are simply driven into the ground at the marked positions using a sledgehammer. You have to make sure that the sleeves are driven in vertically. Otherwise the posts will be crooked later.

  5. Then attach the posts to the drive-in sleeves. It is usually fastened with hexagonal screws that are screwed into the posts from the outside through the sleeves.
  6. After you have installed all the posts, you need to attach the individual slat elements. There are also angles that are simply screwed into the posts. The slats are then attached to these angles later.
  7. You should screw in the angles about 10 cm from below and 10 cm from the upper edge of the lamellas. This means that four angles are required for each element.
  8. Finally, attach the slats to the previously screwed-in angle using screws and a cordless screwdriver.

After you have erected the lamellar fence, you should immediately paint it with a protective wood varnish. This protects it from pests and the weather. So you can enjoy your new fence for a long time.
