Replace battery for solar lamps

instagram viewer

Solar lamps are all the rage because they do not require cables and are therefore easy to install. With good lamps you can swap out the battery for the lamps or replace it with a stronger one to increase the luminosity.

Solar lamps have a small solar cell on their surface that captures the light and thus charges a battery. This then lights up the lightbulbs or LED lamps. The solar lamps light up until the battery is empty. They are then recharged in daylight. You can replace a weak battery with most solar lamps, or you can replace it with a stronger one if you want the solar lamp to last longer. However, pay attention to the correct design and polarity.

How to replace the battery in solar lamps

  1. Carefully open the cover over the battery. Some models require a small screwdriver. Sometimes you also have to lift or unscrew the lid of the lamp.
  2. Remove the battery and check if it has leaked. This would not be good for the life of your solar lamp. If so, you should remove any residue.
  3. When replacing, make sure that the battery is the correct size. Insert the new battery according to the polarity and carefully close the cover again. This is necessary so that no water can get into the lamp.

If you pre-charge the battery in a standard charger, your solar lamp with the new battery will burn on the first night.

Make sure there is enough light for your solar lamps

  • If a new solar lamp does not burn or does not burn properly, it is usually not due to the battery, because it is also new. Check the location again. Are there leaves, thick branches or a canopy over the solar cell so that it cannot capture enough light?
  • Change location or remove branches and twigs and then check again whether the battery will last longer. If so, there is no need to replace it.
