You should only burn dry wood

• If the wood smokes a lot when burning, it is usually because there is still too much water in the wood.
• Good firewood should have a maximum water content of 25%. The more moisture there is in the firewood, the more energy is used to allow the water to evaporate. This then leads to poor combustion and a lot of smoke.
• Therefore, you should only burn wood that has been stored in a dry place for at least two years. Then the wood no longer smokes as much when it is burned.

• Sometimes it also happens that even well-seasoned and dry wood smokes a lot when burned. This is mostly due to insufficient air supply.
