The result of the joking survey, as we know it from TV Total, was that many people didn't know that it is a leap year and didn't know that February has one more day, namely that 29.

Two older women were also interviewed in this survey. One tried to give a correct answer, the other grinned into the camera and asked: “What do things do?” The lady in question was probably not aware of causing such a hype, because it sounded as if she didn't speak German very well and simply didn't understand the question.

Since that moment, the funny saying: “What do things do” has become popular Internet spread quickly. It's not clear why the meme sparked such a thing. Something like this quickly goes viral among young people and then takes on a life of its own. This usually cannot be planned.

Of course, merchandising items are now available, such as T-shirts with the slogan “What do things do?” Anyone who wears a shirt like this naturally wants attention and may also expect funny answers.

Here you can answer pretty much anything that doesn't make sense, depending on your personal mood. It's a bit like the sayings: "It's colder at night than outside", "it's longer in the back than in the front", or "because yoghurt has no bones".
