• Aspirin is the registered brand name of the active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid (ASA), which has been around since the beginning of the 20th century. Century is sold.

• In 1899, the active substance acetylsalicylic acid was to be patented for the first time. This was done by Bayer. However, the attempt failed because the pharmaceutical company under Richard Seifert was already producing ASA and selling it as a remedy.
• In the years after World War I, the company was forced to protect its trademark rights in the territories in which the victorious powers had sovereignty (i.e. in Great Britain, France and the USA), to deliver. As a result, they bought the American company Sterling Drug.
• In the 1950s, however, the Bayer company regained the trademark rights of Aspirin through a court order.
