The Audi 80 Quattro was built from 1987 to 1991 under the type designation Type 89 (popularly: B3). There was hardly any competition for these all-wheel-drive sedans when they were launched. Only Subaru and the US vehicle manufacturer AMC offered four-wheel drive cars at the time. For a mass order, it was often enough for the all-wheel-drive Audi to drive up a steep, snow-covered mountain.

The Audi 80 B3 Quattro Type 89 was built from model year 1987 to 1991, the Audi 90 Type 89 was built from spring 1987 to 1991. All vehicles were fully galvanized. Only 4-cylinder engines took over the drive.

The weak points of a two-decade-old car

  • Used Audi 80s are said to be weaknesses in the fact that in some cases the headliner becomes detached from the carrier material and thus sags. You should be able to neglect this small deficiency in vehicles that are more than 20 years old. It's one thing that is usually easy to fix.
  • It was also found that the rear brake calipers (disc brakes) sometimes hang. In addition, the 4-cylinder PM-engine (1.8S), known as "transition jerk". Sometimes the vacuum pump of the 2.3 electric motor rattles.
  • Many parts of the vehicle type 89 are no longer available from the vehicle manufacturer Audi. The supply of spare parts is still secured for many models due to the fairly large vehicle fleet.
  • The used car prices are between 500 and 5,000 euros. Repair backlogs or good vehicle condition result in one or the other price.
