Paper lamps for children or as a decoration in the garden

An empty cheese box is required for each paper lamp. The lamp will later have the same diameter as this cheese box. If this is not enough for you, you can often buy such round cardboard bases for lanterns in the handicraft shop, these are usually slightly larger in diameter.

  1. Take the lid of the cheese box and use a sharp knife or scissors to carefully separate the round edge of the box from the surface. So all that remains is a round strip of cardboard.
  2. Now take the lantern paper and measure how big it needs to be. To do this, the paper is rolled once around the top or bottom of the cheese box so that it lies around the box. Then about two centimeters of glue is added and the paper is cut to size. You can decide the height for the paper lamp yourself. Now the measured paper can be painted with decorations and patterns from other paper colors. A pattern of small holes is also possible and creates nice lamp effects if a candle is burning inside the lamp later.
  3. Now the paper is glued to the underside around the underside of the cheese box. The cheese box makes the bottom of the paper lamp. At the top of the paper comes the cut-out edge of the cheese box and is also glued on. The paper seam between the boxes is glued.
  4. Now there is a small hole on the left and right at the top. A wire as a paper lamp holder is pulled through these holes and fastened.
  5. Tinker with muffin cases - instructions for a lamp

It is well known that muffins and cupcakes are really tasty. But knew ...

  6. If the lamps are to be hung on the trees in the garden, tea lights are ideal for illuminating the paper lamps. All you need to do is glue an aluminum cover from these tea lights to the center of the box at the bottom of the lantern. So the wax light can be exchanged again and again and placed in this aluminum cover and the candle inside the lantern cannot slip.
