Safari: Set the German dictionary
The Internet browser Safari is part of the standard software of the Apple Macintosh and can also be used under Windows. The browser offers you a modern look and many useful functions. The built-in dictionary is usually set to English and if you prefer a German dictionary, you have to set this manually.
The Safari browser also runs on Windows
- If you have a Windows computer, you are faced with a large selection of different Internet browsers. You can't just do that Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, but also the Safari browser use. The Apple software can be used without problems on any Windows computer and offers you a stylish interface and other advantages. The download is free and quick and the installation will not cause you any problems.
- The software also has an integrated dictionary, but this is usually set to English at the factory. Fortunately, this function can be changed and so you can also use a German utility program. The manual settings that you have to make for this differ significantly between the Apple and Windows versions.
How to set up a German dictionary
- If you are using a Macintosh computer, click on "Edit" in the menu and then select "Spelling and Grammar". In this submenu you can now easily set the language to German and the browser will automatically remember this in the future.
- On a Windows computer you will also find the necessary settings under this menu, but you still have to additionally "check while entering text", "edit" and again the menu "spelling & grammar" to seek out.
- Next, deactivate the spelling and grammar checker and select "edit" again.
- Now select the option "Show spelling and grammar checker" and click on the setting "English" in the next window and change it to "German".
- Now you also have a German dictionary in Safari under Windows.
