• In the Short story David Lubar's "Bread on the water" features two teenagers: Andy and Tomy. The action begins in the church. Andy behaves in such a way that he gets kicked out of church - and so does his best friend Tommy.
• The two friends then meet a man who tells them that he has not eaten for a while. Andy makes sure that the man gets something to eat.
• Then the two friends go back to church and meet Tommy's parents. The parents scold Tommy for being kicked out of church.
• On the way home, Tommy sees Mrs. Linden spanking her son and Mrs. Skeffington on the old one Mrs. Wilming rushes by without offering to take her, although the old woman is having trouble walking.

Past participle: the formation and grammar rules

• Andy acts when he helps the hungry man get something to eat. The key difference between words and actions is visibility. An act or an act can be seen for a long time. Words, on the other hand, are often spoken to the wind. One ear in, the other ear out, one often says to words. One cannot judge deeds so disparagingly.
• When eating, the hungry homeless person does not speak. He doesn't lose any words. The only thing he says at the end is: "Thank you" or "Thank you". That one word is far more important than the plot at this point in the narrative.
• Andy acts again when he tips generously even though the service is not up to par.
• "Bread on the water" comes from the Bible, where it says "If you throw bread on the water, you will find it days later" or according to the Luther translation "Let your bread go over the water"; and for "days later" Luther translated "after a long time". Bread means something like seeds that germinate: those who spread good things around themselves will reap. Good deeds have good consequences.
