Deactivate nudging in the chronicle
In order to draw the attention of one of your Facebook friends to you, you can "nudge" them via their profile or chronicle. You can find out what this function means and how you can switch it off here.
Nudging the Facebook chronicle
at Facebook you can "nudge" every person you are friends with, whereby this function is also available to your friends the other way round.
- This Facebook function is called "poke" in the English original and means something like "knuffen" or "nudge".
- On Facebook, nudging is a quick way to simply say "hello" to a friend digitally.
- The friend then receives a short notification about the nudge when they poke, so that they can either nudge back quickly or get in touch with the respective friend.
- You can find the nudge function on a Facebookprofile in the upper right area via the gear symbol, which you will find next to the button "send message".
- At the Facebooktimeline this gear symbol is arranged a little further down, so that you can only find it on the right below the chronicle cover picture of your friend.

Turn off notifications when nudging
You can turn off the notifications about the nudge quickly and easily via your Facebook account settings.
- To do this, first open the Account settings from Facebook on. To do this, you may have to log in with your login data.
- In the left area you will find a small navigation menu for the most important account settings. Select the third entry from the top "Notifications".
- You may now see your current notifications in the upper area and below the individual editing options for the individual notification functions. Click the "Edit" link to the right of "Facebook" at the bottom of "All notifications".
- A list then opens below the link with the actions for which you will receive a notification. In the fifth position you will find the entry "Nudge friend". Uncheck the box to the right to switch off the notification.
- You can now optionally deactivate further notifications or finish editing by clicking on "Save changes". You will find the button below the displayed list.
